General Information

The Department of Optics and Optometry offers instruction in the Degrees in Optics and Optometry (EUOOT). It also provides a PhD in Applied Optics and various specialization courses closely linked to the research lines.

The research carried out includes basic research projects and technology transfer to industry. Projects carried out include the following:

  • Advice on photometry in relation with the development of software for designing automobiles reflectors.
  • Studies identifying fungal and bacterial contamination and chemical deposits in contact lenses.
  • Eye care for people from a wide range of social care institutions.
  • Optical and digital image processing for integral recognition of the shape, color and texture of objects and structures.
  • Development of new systems for quality application in ophthalmological optics.
  • Study and development of optical sensors for nanometric profilometry.
