GBMI - Molecular and Industrial Biotechnology Group

The group is a cross-functional research group that works on the structure and function of biomedical and biotechnological relevant proteins. Recombinant proteins are designed and obtained with the use of genetic engineering techniques. These proteins are purified and characterized with the use of biochemical and spectroscopic methods. These proteins have pharmacological relevance and are used to develop new drugs. Enzyme modification is also studied for biotechnological processes application in the industry and in the transformation of biomaterials for biomedical applications with a great added value.
